Our Wednesday, March 29, 2017 Lunch and Learn follows closely on the heels of our previous programs by educating our membership on abuse and neglect issues.
We are presently part of a multi-generational aging population caring for older parents, and as Baby Boomers…. we and our spouses fall into the age category where elder abuse as well as elder-biased activities can affect us!
Learn about Elder abuse which is an intentional act, or failure to act, by a caregiver or another person in a relationship involving an expectation of trust that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult (an older adult is defined as someone age 60 or older).
It can take the form of physical abuse or neglect, sexual abuse, emotional or psycho-social abuse, financial abuse or exploitation which unfortunately may readily happen at the hands of a loved one, or cherished guardian/care-giver. We will learn about Florida Law, how to protect ourselves and loved ones from becoming victims of this crime.
We will again have video material and expert review of the literature. Bring your lunch….and we will provide liquid refreshment and food for thought.
